OptiTip® Extender Trunks
The Corning OptiTip® Extender Trunks are factory-terminated fiber optic cables with a female OptiTip® MT connector on one end and a male OptiTip® connector on the other — engineered to extend network backbone connections efficiently and reliably across indoor and outdoor environments. Designed to interface with EDGE and Plug & Play™ modules and MTP trunks, these trunks deliver seamless, high-performance backbone extensions with tool-less installation.

by Corning · Female + Male OptiTip® MT Connectors
OptiTip® Extender Trunks are factory-terminated cables with a female OptiTip® MT connector on one end and a male OptiTip® connector on the other. The female dust cap includes an integral pulling eye for easy deployment. These trunks interface directly with EDGE and Plug & Play™ modules and MTP trunks — delivering additional backbone reach without compromising signal performance or installation speed.

Key Features
-
Seamless Backbone Extension Provides additional reach for network backbone connections — allowing existing MTP trunk infrastructure to be extended to Zone Distribution Areas, remote EDGE modules, and Plug & Play™ housings without replacing installed cable runs.
-
Tool-Less Installation with Strain-Relief Clips Strain-relief clips on both connectors enable tool-less installation directly into EDGE and Plug & Play™ housings — eliminating the need for additional hardware and significantly reducing deployment time in structured cabling environments.
-
Factory-Terminated & Tested Every Extender Trunk is factory-terminated and 100% optically tested before shipment — delivering verified performance at both connector ends and eliminating the field termination variables that cause inconsistent link performance.
-
Indoor/Outdoor Rated Cable Available with outdoor or indoor/outdoor rated cable construction — suitable for deployments that span both inside plant and outside plant environments within a single continuous cable run.
-
EDGE & Plug and Play™ Compatibility Designed to interface directly with EDGE modules and Plug & Play™ housings — providing the physical and optical compatibility needed for drop-in deployment within Corning's structured cabling ecosystem.
Applications
OptiTip® Extender Trunks are part of the Corning Wireless/FTTH portfolio — deployed wherever an existing backbone needs to be extended to new distribution or access points.
Zone Distribution Areas (ZDA)
Extend MTP trunk runs from the main distribution area to Zone Distribution Areas — providing the additional reach needed for zone cabling architectures without re-pulling backbone cable.
Data Centers
Extend structured cabling to EDGE and Plug & Play™ modules in data center deployments — enabling scalable, modular connectivity expansion without modifying installed trunk infrastructure.
Enterprise Networks
Reliable backbone extensions within corporate infrastructures — connecting MTP trunks to remote EDGE housings and distribution points across departments, floors, and buildings.
