With OM1 multimode fiber enabling high-speed data transfer up to 1 Gbps over distances up to 300 meters, these cables are ideal for telecommunication rooms, office networks, and storage area networks where reliable short-range performance matters.

iFiber Optix LC to SC Multimode OM1 Fiber Cable

LC to SC Multimode OM1 Ultra Fiber Cable

This fiber cable combines two of the most widely deployed connectors — LC on one end and SC on the other — with OM1 multimode fiber for reliable short-range data transmission. The LC connector's small form factor enables high-density panel installations, while the SC connector's push-pull locking mechanism ensures stable, secure connections that resist accidental disconnection in active patching environments.

The combination of LC, SC, and OM1 fiber ensures seamless communication between devices with different interface types — making this cable ideal for mixed-connector environments in telecom closets, data centers, and office networks.

Key Features

  • Optimized for Short-Range Transmission Supports 1 Gbps Ethernet over distances up to 300 meters — ideal for office LANs, data center rows, telecom closets, and campus inter-floor connections where multimode fiber is the cost-effective choice.
  • Low Insertion Loss LC and SC connectors deliver low insertion loss (<0.3 dB) and high return loss (≥30 dB) — ensuring strong, stable signal transmission and reduced data errors across all connections in the multimode channel.
  • Compact LC + Secure SC Design The LC connector's small form factor enables high-density panel installations, while the SC connector's push-pull locking mechanism ensures stable connections that resist accidental disconnection during routine patching operations.
  • Seamless Cross-Interface Connectivity The LC-to-SC configuration bridges devices with different connector interfaces — eliminating the need for adapter couplers and reducing connection points, insertion loss, and potential failure points in the optical channel.
  • Reliable OM1 Multimode Performance OM1 fiber provides reliable, high-bandwidth communication for short-range applications — suitable for office networks, data centers, SANs, and telecom environments where 1G performance at distances under 300 meters is the requirement.
  • Durable Long-Term Construction Built with high-quality materials and rated for 500+ mating cycles with less than 0.2 dB change in insertion loss — engineered for reliable, long-lasting performance in demanding network environments with frequent patching activity.

Ideal Applications

LC to SC Multimode OM1 cables are deployed wherever mixed LC-SC connectivity is needed for short-range, high-bandwidth data transmission across a variety of networking environments.

LAN

Local Area Networks

OM1 fiber is widely used in office LANs for short-distance communication between routers, switches, and computers — delivering reliable 1G connectivity where LC and SC interfaces need to connect directly.

Data Center

Data Centers

LC connectors provide high-density connections at switch and server ports while SC connectors link equipment racks and patch panels — making LC-SC cables ideal for mixed-interface data center patching.

Telecom

Telecom Networks

Used in telecom rooms to connect devices and switches with different connector interfaces — ensuring smooth communication across network nodes without requiring separate adapter panels.

Storage / SAN

Storage Area Networks

OM1 fiber is well suited for SANs — enabling reliable data transfer between storage systems and servers over short distances where LC-to-SC cross-connects are required between storage and switching equipment.

Campus

Campus Networks

Connects devices across multiple buildings in campus environments with minimal latency — ideal for mixed-connector infrastructure where some equipment uses LC ports and others use SC interfaces.

Government / GSA

Government & Regulated Facilities

RoHS-compliant construction and GSA contract availability make LC-SC OM1 cables a straightforward specification for government office networks, campus infrastructure, and regulated facility cabling projects.

How to Choose the Right LC-SC OM1 Configuration

Four decisions define your LC-SC OM1 assembly — use this guide to arrive at the right configuration for your deployment.

01

Confirm Distance & Bandwidth

OM1 supports up to 300 meters at 1 Gbps — slightly shorter than the LC-LC OM1 configuration due to the mixed connector interface. If your network requires longer distances or 10G speeds, consider OM3 or OM4 multimode. For runs exceeding 2km, singlemode OS2 is the appropriate solution.

02

Verify Connector Compatibility

Confirm that your End A equipment uses LC ports and your End B equipment uses SC ports before ordering. If both ends use the same connector type, specify LC-LC or SC-SC instead. If your equipment uses adapters, a direct LC-SC cable eliminates one connection point and reduces insertion loss.

03

Select Length & Jacket

Available in standard lengths from 0.5m to 15m and custom lengths for special routing requirements. Select PVC (OFNR) for equipment rooms, plenum (OFNP) for air-handling spaces, or LSZH for facilities with halogen restrictions or European compliance requirements.

04

OM1 vs. OM3 / OM4

OM1 (62.5µm, orange) is the right choice for existing OM1 infrastructure or cost-sensitive 1G deployments. OM3/OM4 (50µm, aqua/violet) are required for 10G+ applications. Never mix OM1 and OM3/OM4 fiber in the same channel — core size mismatch causes significant insertion loss at every connection point.
